Susan's the Foodies Group "road manager" and she'll will take you to places around the mountains that are known for their food, their ambiance or perhaps, best of all- for both!  Check back weekly, as they hit the road often!

There are a lot of independent restaurants in the Asheville area that folks who just moved here weren't aware of - so I decided about a year ago to get a group together once a month, have them get to know each other and have a good meal.  Most of the places have been great, some not so much.  The following is the foodies group review of where we've been and liked.

THE MADISON INN - Ridgecrest (Black Mtn) Its not a very big place, but the cozy atmosphere and food is worth the trip. Their fried green tomatoes, Chicken Madison and Banana's Foster are just some of the fabulous dishes they offer. Reservations are highly recommended. You can also stay there and they are pet friendly.

POPLAR LODGE - Hendersonville. Its in a old log structure that has been added on over the years.  They are known for their steaks and prime rib.  Service is great, food is a little bit pricey, but I recommend it.

More to come - if you have a restaurant that you just love let me know and we'll check it out. Susan
